400 years of golfing tradition encapsulated in a few years

Jeremy Turner, golfbanearkitekt – (designet Lofoten Golf Links)

Lofoten is a perfect example of using what nature has given to create a special place to play golf rather than man interfering with machines that can move mountains.

Towards green wind has with it a smell of seaweed. Vertical stripes of silver light from above into the sea says that the sun does not give up even when it is cloudy. This is vacation.

Arne Sauar, reiseskildring fra Lofoten i Golf World Norge

A unique golf and nature experience recommended to all golfers.

              Jahn Ivar “Mini” Jakobsen

When I turn me briefly about the flag on the Lofoten fifth green I read my line of putt and gazing straight north towards the sea. It is half past one in the morning, and I am dazzled by the midnight sun. A South African guest who had a similar experience was so taken that he left the track. The emotions were too strong. He had no time to play 144 holes.

Thomas Hagfeldt, Golf Digest Sverige, no 3 2004

The course is as remote as Ballyliffin and Royal Dornoch. It is laid on land that was once probably created to any golfer would finally understand what it is best suited for. Perhaps we are, after all, have come to Prestwick.

Thomas Hagfeldt, Golf Digest Sverige, no 3 2004

Around the charmingly situated bunkers, stones, seaweed and sea. The seagulls are our audience. From the eighth tee, we can see the runway all nine flags. The green way down there is next to engage first and third most greens. It is so beautiful that I forget to watch the ball.
