Where is Lofoten Links?

Lofoten Links is located at 68 degrees north latitude in the north of Norway, above the Arctic Circle. It important to know that Lofoten Links is remote.  We are located on an archipelago, on Gimsøy Island, in the Norwegian Sea.  Gimsøy Island has a population of only 181 people.  This means that you need a car to get here, as there is not much public transportation on the islands yet.  That being said, the drive from either EVE (Evenes/Harstad/Narvik airport) or SVJ (Svolvær airport) is stunning.  Which is why we recommend flying into EVE or SVJ and renting a car for your trip.

How do I get to Lofoten Links?

You have a few options.

We recommend flying from OSL (Osl0) into EVE, renting a car and driving the very scenic 3 hours to get here.

You can also fly OSL -> BOO (Bodø airport) -> to SVJ or LKN (Leknes Airport) and rent a car there.

There is often a long layover at BOO and this route is less dependable than flying into EVE.  It is not uncommon for them to cancel the BOO -> SVJ/LKN flights due to crazy winds, as the airplane only seats 39 people.

If you need more or want to compare prices, just google “rental cars from the airport you are flying into.”

If you are not renting a car, we do offer transport from either LKN or SVJ airports.  The transport cost kr 2800 one way.

Where do I stay at Lofoten Links?

We conveniently have variety of lodges located 1 km away from the golf course!

In addition, when you stay at one of our lodges, you receive a discount on your green fee.

We have 8 luxury standard lodges, each with three bedrooms with 2 beds and a small loft (can sleep up to 3), a private bathroom and a large shared, communal area (kitchenette, living room, fireplace, washer) and terrace.

This means you can rent one sound-proof room in the lodge and share the communal area.  You can also, of course, rent the entire lodge for larger parties.

If you prefer to rent an entire lodge, we have 4 cozy, typical Norwegian lodges to choose from. 3 of these lodges (10,11,12) have an outdoor hot tub and for an extra fee, you can book this experience.

Where can I eat when I’m not golfing?

We are happy and proud to be able to serve our golf guests delicious, local food from our rustic restaurant called Låven.

Located only 850 m away from the golf course, in between the course and the lodges, lies our cozy restaurant and is the perfect place to get fantastic food before, in between, or after your round.

We offer a breakfast buffet, lunch and dinner everyday.  You can even opt to have a 2 or 3 course meal.

In addition, we offer baguettes, waffles, and snacks, along with coffee, soda, and beer/wine at The Clubhouse.

What are the Green Fee prices?

We recommend that people play our course more than once. There are many nuances and discoveries to be made, and each time you play, you uncover something different.  And of course, the weather is a huge factor in the links course experience.  The weather changes quickly here, so again, playing more than one round allows you to get the full package experience.

We recommend our 3 round package:

1st round (18 holes): Full Price

2nd round (18 holes): Half Price

3rd round (18 holes): FREE

This is available all year, and must be used with the same golf season.

Green Fee prices vary, depending on if you are a lodge guest, a member, or if it’s low or high season.

Check out all the different 2023 Green Fee prices here.

Can I golf, eat and sleep at Lofoten Links?

Yes, you essentially can.  As mentioned above, you can play the #1 golf course in Norway, eat at our delicious, local restaurant and then get some sleep at our lodges, all located in within 1 km.

Is there a grocery store near the lodges?

Yes, there is a local shop about 5 km away from the lodges.  Here you can buy food, drink, beer and basic necessities.  There is also a little café inside.  You can also shop in the town of Svolvær, located about 40 minutes away by car.  They have many shops there and this is also where you can buy wine and spirits.  You can only buy wine and spirits in the Vinmonpolet.  The Vinmonpolet is not open on Sundays.

What is the dress code at Lofoten Links?

The dress code is smart casual.

What is the weather?

The weather is unpredictable.  We can not tell you what the weather will be like in a particular month and unfortunately we can not recommend the “best time to play golf here.”

What you can do is check the weather forecast using the app or website called yr.no

Search “Lofoten Golfbane” for the most accurate forecast.

The midnight sun is from around mid-May to end of July.  This is when the sun does not set, making it light for 24 hours a day.  It is a phenomenon that must be experienced at least one time in your life.  Plus it makes for a magical golf experience, as the course glows unlike any other time.

It must be dark to see the northern lights.  Thus the northern lights season starts around mid-August and lasts until around April.
